The second quarter of 2024 has been an interesting period for carpooling and ridesharing apps on the iOS platform in the United Kingdom. According to Sensor Tower, the performance of the top apps in this category has demonstrated diverse trends in terms of downloads and weekly active users.
Uber - Request a ride maintained its popularity with downloads starting at 55K in the first week of April and peaking at 70K by the end of June. The weekly active users for Uber also showed a healthy uptrend, starting at 982K and rising to an impressive 1.1M in the final week of June.
In contrast, Bolt: Request a Ride saw its downloads begin at 31K, with a mid-quarter dip before recovering to 37K by the end of June. Weekly active users for Bolt fluctuated, starting at 262K and reaching a high of 307K in the second week of June before settling at 306K.
The Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver app experienced a different pattern with a more stable download rate beginning at 13K and ending the quarter at nearly 11K. Weekly active users remained fairly consistent, with a slight uptick from 152K to 156K over the course of the quarter.
The download figures for Careem – rides, food & more showed a peak of 6K in mid-April, but overall the app saw a downward trend ending at 4K by late June. Weekly active users for Careem also experienced a decline from 13K to just above 10K.
Lastly, inDrive. Save on city rides had a modest start with 3K downloads in the first week of April, but showed growth reaching 5K downloads by the end of June. Weekly active users for inDrive displayed a steady increase from 22K to 25K throughout the quarter.
